Class is now a member of 1EdTech. Members are committed to open, innovative, and trusted digital ecosystems.

Open standards remain essential and offer flexibility and choice to organizations that embrace them. I am proud to announce that Class is a member of 1EdTech and has earned Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) 1.3 certification. This milestone is a testament to our commitment to open standards and the flexibility and choice it provides to customers and partners of Class.

Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is an education technology specification developed by 1EdTech, specifying a method for a learning system to invoke and to communicate with external systems. The latest certification, LTI 1.3, is the most secure and advanced standard.

The LTI 1.3 integration will allow for an even more secure single sign-on (SSO) process from your chosen learning management system (LMS) into Class. This makes it easier for instructors and learners who use your LMS to access various tools and applications without having to remember multiple logins. In addition, LTI 1.3 provides a foundation for the growing selection of LTI Advantage services that enable a fully integrated, context-responsive digital ecosystem.

Class has been leveraging LTI integration with leading LMSs—like Canvas by Instructure, Blackboard Learn, D2L Brightspace, and Open LMS—to combine the best of synchronous and asynchronous learning. LTI 1.3 integration allows Class to work with your LMS to provide improved workflows, access course content, and seamlessly transfer data:

  • Workflows are significantly improved by allowing your users to launch Class directly from your LMS, automating course setup, section scheduling, and rostering—and ensuring a fluid experience for your learning community.
  • Instructors can easily access course content directly within your LMS, from assignments to quizzes, saving time and keeping your learners engaged.
  • Learner performance data is centralized within your LMS. Instructors can effortlessly monitor student progress and outcomes knowing data points such as completion and grades are seamlessly transferred from Class.

Class's enhanced LMS integration utilizing LTI standard

LTI 1.3 integration and our 1EdTech membership will allow us to continue delivering even more accessible tools to instructors and learners. By simplifying the relationship between Class and the rest of your tech stack, educational technologies can be more easily embraced, with fewer obstacles between learners and the knowledge they are hoping to obtain.

We remain committed to open standards in the pursuit of improving the educational experience for all learners and educators. I’m proud of our team for their work in this process as it allows Class to continue delivering on the best technology possible.
