As the demand for flexible and accessible education continues to grow, ensuring that learners and educators have a seamless, unified experience is more important than ever. In alignment with this mission—and to better serve our customers—I am thrilled to announce the availability of a next generation web experience for Class.

This change also means that we will no longer support the downloadable Windows and Mac versions of the Class application. Going forward, instructors and learners will access Class exclusively from the web.

This move signifies a significant step forward in our mission. By adopting a web-first approach, we will increase the adoption of Class by providing a consistent, accessible, flexible, and fun-to-use experience across all our users.

What the Class web experience means for our customers

By focusing exclusively on a next generation web experience, we are able to deliver new features faster than ever, along with even quicker patches and improvements to existing functionality. Administrators will no longer need to manage deployments and the Class UI will be consistent across institutional users. This transition allows us to meet our users where they want to be and foster partnerships with even greater success.

This shift also allows us to deliver an even greater learning experience across devices, with consistent and interactive engagement available in mobile-specific ways for learners using smaller screens. Not only does this provide additional user convenience, but it also elevates equity and access in valuable ways previously limited by hardware or location restrictions.

What the Class web experience means for innovation

Our mission drives us to continuously improve, and this transition reflects our dedication to deliver more innovation at a faster pace than ever before. With Class’s web experience, we are positioned to set new standards in online learning, and to deliver on new and exciting innovations tied to AI, learning analytics and more.

Why the change now?

Class harnesses the audio and video capabilities of Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and is built on the underlying architecture of the respective platforms. With recent advancements to the software development kits that support the web application versions and achieve parity with prior desktop versions, we can now confidently move forward and deploy our next generation web experience that is now available today.

We are excited to make this important step and to offer instructors and learners an abundance of new features and enhanced experiences in the future. To learn more about the release, please continue reading, here.
